This Morning Routine Will Improve Your Mood

how we start

our morning is important. It doesn’t necessarily set the tone for the day as lets face it; we can always choose differently but having even 5 intentional minutes does help. Whether you are a morning person or not these simple tips will support your mood, sense of self and give you space to honour you as your day begins.

1) Time: Take time it doesn’t matter how much you have 2minutes is better than no minutes. Sit, breathe, connect to your body - how do you feel, what is your body telling you? What is your heart desiring? What had you hoped to do and complete - how can you support yourself in doing so?

2) Breathe: Listen.

Take time outside if you can placing your feet in the ground; listen, feel, thank the earth for your life, and ask where are you being guided today?

3) Move: Try moving for even 5-10 minutes getting the blood flowing visualise this affecting and streaming healthy blood flow through all of your vessels, organs and systems rejuvenating you anew for a new day ahead: focus on strength as well as some core exercises. Strengthening the core in the morning is a powerful exercise as on the physical level it supports a feeling of strength, power and a sense of self. In yogic terms the core represents the sun; our centre of confidence and willpower - exactly what we need as the day begins; self belief to enact on the intentions from our gut, and our heart.

Bonus points: for repeating affirmations as you do so to rewire your intention through your body and being.

It doesn’t take much, but these practices can be powerful medicine for aligning ourselves to our intentions and goals as we start each day or to even strip back to when necessary. As always, the most powerful medicine is the most simple.
